What To Do About Virus Threats

If you've heard about virus activity that may compromise your computer, don't despair. There are many things you can do to protect yourself. Star One keeps abreast of these situations and wants to keep you informed. You may see an advertisement on our homepage that talks about recent threats.

However, it's a good idea to take measures to protect your PC at home by doing the following:
  • Visit your browser company's web site (Netscape, Microsoft Explorer) to learn about the latest threats and solutions or "patches."
  • Visit other technology sites such as CNET, ZDNet, McAfee and Symantec to learn more about recent virus activity.

  • Update your anti-virus software annually and disinfect your hard drive on a regular basis.

  • Consider purchasing "anti-spyware" software. Run it once a month.
Star One monitors online threats and addresses any potential security issues proactively. There are, however, threats that utilize tactics that we are unable to control. Stay informed and protect your PC in order to safeguard your data.
