"Heartbleed" security vulnerability

Our security team has confirmed that our login entry points are unaffected by the new "Heartbleed" security vulnerability. We continue to monitor this situation for new developments. Multiple "layers" of security are in place to further ensure your online protection at Star One.

Are you still using the Microsoft® Windows® XP operating system?

Microsoft has announced on April 8, 2014 they will no longer support Windows XP. If you are currently using Windows XP, Microsoft recommends you upgrade to a supported operating system to ensure access to the latest security updates they provide.

Java 7 - known issue

Version 7 of the Java add-on is known to be vulnerable to exploits. If you disable or remove Java 7 from your browser, the following Star One products may not function properly: Calculators and ezDeposit. If you have questions or further concerns, please contact us.

We want you to be informed. The growth of the Internet and Mobile usage, constantly changing transaction options, and the ever present threats to privacy, make your financial literacy more important than ever before. As a consumer, it is awareness that enables you to take control of your financial life and protect yourself.

Our goal is to provide you with practical information and tips on topics that are important to your financial well being and peace of mind. Just click a link on the left side of this page to learn more about each subject. We will expand this section of our site as relevant subjects present themselves, so check back often—bookmark us. If there is a specific topic that you would like us to address, please contact us.

How Star One protects YOU

Your security is our top priority. That's why we go out of our way to make sure your information is protected. These are just a few of the things we do to ensure your privacy:

  • We use ChexSystems and ChexSystems' "Fraud Finder" to verify new accounts.
  • We always check your ID (normally your driver's license) and make sure your ID is current when opening a new account and when performing transactions in the branch.
  • When you call in to talk to a service representative, specific questions are asked so that we know we are talking to YOU.
  • We discourage using your mother's maiden name (and other obvious phrases) as one of your account identifiers. Please note, however, that Star One may be currently using this information in combination with other identifiers. If you would like to make a change to your account identifiers, call us at (408) 543-5202 or (866) 543-5202. Learn about the importance of protecting your personal information.
  • We mail change of address confirmation letters to your address of record.
  • Your social security number is excluded from your mailed account statements.
  • Online statements are available to all Online Banking users to minimize the risk of mail fraud.
  • Your member number is excluded from your ATM receipts.
  • Our entire web site, not just Online Banking, is behind a firewall to protect your online transactions and inquiries.
  • We utilize multi-factor authentication for Online and Mobile Banking.
