Beneficiary/Retiree Services
Star One's Beneficiary/Retiree Services staff specializes in assisting survivors or beneficiaries with Credit Union accounts and loans of a deceased member (or joint owner). In addition, BRS staff is trained in various aspects of account administration, such as proper documentation of account ownership. The staff also works closely with the Santa Clara County Department of Aging and Adult Protective Services (APS).
Questions about documents that impact Star One accounts such as Powers of Attorney, court orders or court issued directives, and Trust related forms may be reviewed by BRS staff to ensure that Star One accounts are properly titled.
In the event of the death of a member or account signer on a Star One account or loan, the appointed legal personal representative for the estate, surviving joint owner, or elected beneficiary should call in advance for an appointment to settle the accounts. Scheduling an appointment in advance helps insure that the documents required are prepared prior to the appointment, or mailed to the legal personal representative for completion.
If you should have questions, please call in advance to schedule an appointment with a member of the Beneficiary/Retiree Services staff at (866) 543-5202 or (408) 543-5202.
