Star One automatically qualifies members for Courtesy Pay when we make a decision to pay or not pay an item. If you do not qualify for Courtesy Pay or opt out of this service, Star One will return your item if there are insufficient funds.
Courtesy Pay requirements:
An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but we pay it anyway. Overdrafts will be determined based on the available balance in your checking account at the time a check or item is presented. Your available balance may be lower than your actual balance due to funds held for debit card transactions you have authorized and deposited checks held pursuant to our funds availability policy. If the available balance in your account is less than the transaction amount of the check or item presented, the item will be considered an overdraft and may be returned or declined.
We can cover your overdrafts in two different ways:
If you do not qualify or opt-out of Courtesy pay and there are insufficient funds, we will return your item.
We do authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions unless you ask us not to:
The Credit Union pays overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be returned or declined.

Yes, if you have not been previously qualified for Courtesy Pay, first opt in to Courtesy Pay (option #1) and then opt in to the Debit Card option (option #2) to ensure your everyday debit-card transactions receive the same overdraft coverage as your checks and other items.
If you want us to authorize and pay overdrafts on ATM and everyday debit card transactions on your checking account, you must opt-in by using one of the following methods:
