Overdraft Coverage

Star One overdraft coverage provides a convenient and flexible safety net.

An overdraft occurs when you do not have enough money in your account to cover a transaction, but as a service to you, Star One can pay it anyway.

Star One recommends setting up overdraft coverage in the following order, starting with the free option:

  1. Free Savings Overdraft Coverage. Automatically link your primary savings account to your checking account. If an item is presented for payment and there are not enough funds in your checking account, we'll automatically transfer funds in multiples of $100, up to your available savings balance, absolutely free. Set up Overdraft Coverage.
     
  2. Credit Line Loan Overdraft Coverage. Upon approval (and if you do not have a Star One Visa Credit Card), your Star One Credit Line Loan is automatically linked to your checking account. If an item is presented for payment and there are not enough funds in your checking account, we'll automatically advance funds in multiples of $100, up to your available Credit Line Loan limit. There is no cash advance or transfer fee for this service; however, interest begins to accrue from the date of advance. Apply online.
     
  3. Visa Credit Card Overdraft Coverage. Upon approval, your Star One Visa Credit Card is automatically linked to your checking account. If an item is presented for payment and there are not enough funds in your checking account, we'll automatically advance funds in multiples of $100, up to your available Visa Credit Card limit. There is no cash advance or transfer fee for this service; however, interest begins to accrue from the date of advance. Apply for a Star One Visa Credit card.
     
  4. Courtesy Pay Overdraft Coverage. For qualifying members in good standing, Star One will automatically pay items to a limit of $2,000 instead of returning them due to insufficient funds. Save possible merchant charges and the embarrassment of an inadvertent mistake. A $15.00 fee is charged per overdraft item paid (no charge for the first item per calendar year, nor for overdraft items up to an accumulated negative balance of $30). Apply for Courtesy Pay.

To further help avoid overdrafting your account, set up balance notifications in Online Banking or Mobile Banking. You can also take advantage of Debit Card transaction alerts and Text Banking available in Mobile Banking.

Available balances displayed in Online Banking, via Touchtone Teller or on your monthly statement do not include overdraft and/or credit line amounts.

Government regulations require you to opt in to authorize everyday debit card transaction overdraft coverage.
