2026 Scholar Spotlight

Star One is proud to congratulate the outstanding students selected as recipients of the 2026 Star One Credit Union Scholarship. Each recipient received a $5,000 scholarship to help support tuition, fees, books, supplies and other required educational expenses.

The scholarship program reflects our commitment to supporting the next generation of students and investing in the communities we serve. This year’s recipients demonstrated not only strong academic performance, but also a dedication to making a difference beyond the classroom.

As part of this year’s application, we invited each recipient to tell us how they plan to put their scholarship to use. We’re excited to share a few of their words below:

• As a student on the pre-veterinary track, this scholarship will help ease the financial burden of higher education, allowing me to focus more fully on my studies and be financially prepared for veterinary school.
• This support not only brings me closer to my dream of becoming a physician but also eases the financial challenges of pursuing my education, allowing me to focus more fully on learning and serving others. I hope to one day pay that generosity forward by making a meaningful difference in others' lives.
• This scholarship will be an extremely helpful boost that will allow me to pursue less part-time work and focus more of my time on academics and extra-curriculars.
• This will allow me to devote more time and energy to my academics, research, and my commitment to collaborative, community-centered service work. With the help of this scholarship, I hope to pay it forward in the future by giving back to the community that made my education possible.
• I am committed to making the most of this opportunity to pursue my interests in electrical engineering, linguistics, and public policy and to give back to my community.
• This scholarship means more to me than I can fully express, both financially and as encouragement to keep pursuing my academic, leadership, and professional goals. This motivates me to continue showing up for my community and creating opportunities that positively impact others.
• This gives me the opportunity to continue pursuing my academic goals, and I couldn’t be more excited to excel at college over the next four years. I hope to make the most of this opportunity by continuing to learn, grow, and give back to my community.
• I hope to make a lasting impact on my campus community, and this support will allow me to take on responsibilities that I am most passionate about.

These responses offer a glimpse into the ambition and community spirit that make these scholars so special. They are not only focused on building bright futures for themselves, but also on using their education to make a difference in the lives of others.

Looking ahead to 2027

The next generation of scholars will have an opportunity to apply for the 2027 Star One Credit Union Scholarship starting January 2, 2027. Applications will be accepted until February 26, with 10 scholarships of $5,000 each available to eligible students.
