Considering a 5/1 adjustable-rate mortgage?

As you shop for the best mortgage loan for your home purchase or refinance, one mortgage option that you’ll probably evaluate is the popular 5-year ARM.

At Star One, we offer you two different 5-year ARMs.

  1. 5/1 ARM[1] : provides a low fixed rate for the first five years. After that, the rate can increase or decrease every year, depending on future rates.[2]
  2. 5/5 ARM[3] [4] : also provides a low fixed rate for the first five years. After that, the rate can increase or decrease every five years—instead of every year like the 5/1 ARM.[2]

The 5/5 ARM is currently our most popular 5-year ARM.

Like most mortgage shoppers, you’re probably also considering the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage to protect you from interest rates that could continue to rise.

The 30-year fixed guarantees a single unchanging monthly payment over the years.

Since the 5/5 ARM mortgage rate can only increase every five years, it provides significantly more stability than a traditional 5/1 ARM, but not as much as a 30-year fixed-rate mortgage.

The interest rate on our 5/5 ARM is now lower than our 5/1 ARM.

In response to popular demand, we’ve lowered the interest rate for a limited time on our 5/5 ARM to 5.625%Rate (6.705%APR[6] ). That's even lower than our 5/1 ARM. 👍

As a not-for-profit credit union who understands the current market and your home-financing journey, we’re here to help.

No origination fees

If rates drop in the future, so can your mortgage payment.

When you have a Star One mortgage loan, there’s no need to refinance to get a lower interest rate if rates go down in the future.

Join thousands of Star One members who have taken advantage of our unique Mortgage Rate Modification program. To lower your rate to today’s rate, simply pay a low fee—no property appraisal, employment verification or other paperwork required.

5-year ARM mortgage FAQ

Star One's 5/5 Adjustable-Rate Mortgage—also known as the 5/5 ARM—offers a fixed interest rate for the first five years. After that, the interest rate will adjust every five years (may increase or decrease).

The 5/1 Adjustable-Rate Mortgage—often simply called a "5-Year ARM"—also offers a fixed interest rate for the first five years. After that the interest rate will adjust every year (may increase or decrease), instead of every five years.

Possible interest-rate increases every five years on a 5/5 ARM are limited by 2% (period cap), never to exceed 5% more than the starting rate (lifetime cap). The 5/5 ARM is not available for investment properties.
